In this breed the coat is not decoration. It is part of what a judge is asked to evaluate, and a correct clip either shows a dog’s structure honestly or hides it. Getting that right takes an eye trained in the ring, not just a pair of clippers.

Anat is a self-taught owner handler and groomer who has prepared her own dogs to Championship and Grand Championship for more than three decades. That same preparation is available to other owners showing Portuguese Water Dogs.

This is show preparation rather than general pet grooming — work aimed at the ring, done to the breed standard.
